Dress Guidelines for Student Teachers
1. Comfortable shoes are recommended. No flip flops or loose sandals. If you wear sandals be sure to bring shoes suitable for outdoor play whether it is winter, spring, summer or fall.
2. Bring seasonal appropriate clothing and outerwear. Our children love to play outdoors in all seasons. In the winter, it is cold and it is quite probable that you will be outside with the children.
3. No revealing clothing. Remember the 3 B’s – no breasts, no bottoms, no bellies. If we can see down it, or up it, or through it – you can’t wear it to work.
4. No clothing with logos, advertisements, or questionable quotations.
5. Jeans are fine – but no cuts or holes.
6. Just as long dresses can be hazardous when running, short skirts and short, shorts can be equally as hazardous when bending or stretching. Please make sure that your movement is not impeded by either. Shorts and skirts should be no more than 3 inches above the knee.
7. Your head teacher retains the right to send you home or cover you up if you are not dressed appropriately.
8. Wear jewelry at your own risk and keep fingernails short.
9. If you smoke or live with someone who smokes, please make sure you do not smell like smoke when coming to work. Also, as a precaution refrain from using strong colognes. You never know who might be allergic.
10. Accidents happen so it is recommended that you bring a change of clothes. You may leave this at the center in lockers which can be found in the bathrooms at either end of the hall. You must provide your own padlock.
REMEMBER: IF YOU ARE IN DOUBT ABOUT SOMETHING THAT YOU PLAN TO WEAR, IT IS PROBABLY NOT APPROPRIATE!
