ZEPHYR TEACHING STAFF

  Samantha Shaffer and Nicole Bender

My name is Samantha Shaffer, but here at Indi Kids, everybody calls me Ms. Sam. I attended IUP and have my bachelor’s degree in Child Development and Family Relations. I have worked at Indi kids since 2014. I started as the assistant teacher in the Zephyr classroom. As new opportunities opened up in the Indi Kids program, I became the head teacher for our Before and After School School-Aged program. I love working with both the two year-olds and the school-aged children. I love to watch the children grow into being their own individuals and watch them develop their own personality, and I have come to realize that no two personalities are the same. I also love to help them learn new things and see how they play and interact with each other, because play is so important for young children. I have since returned to my toddler classroom roots and am now the head teacher of our Zephyr classroom. Outside of work my husband and I are the proud parents of our 4 year-old little boy and baby girl. In my spare time I like to go on walks, play golf and tennis, sit around a campfire and watch sporting events both live and on screen.

Miss Nicole has been employed by Indi Kids since October of 2012. She was previously the head teacher of the 2 year-old Zephyr room, and now she is the head teacher of our 1 year-old Dew Drop classroom. Nicole graduated with her bachelor's degree in Child and Family Studies from IUP. In her spare time, Nicole enjoys spending time with her son and family. Nicole has been an integral part of our Indi Kids family for some time now and always brings a caring, positive attitude. Miss Nicole says, "I look forward to getting to know everyone." Her personality shines through when working with our young children.
